What is a “reading”? It means the actors have not been given enough rehearsal time to memorize the lines, so they carry a script! A reading with professional actors is between a full show and “story time.” Actors fully embody their characters. There is little to no set, leaving space for your imagination to soar! Actors will carry scripts but may still be staged by the director, with costume pieces, a few hand props, and minimal furniture. These lightly staged readings are held in the intimate embrace of our studio in Downtown Livermore. Enjoy some refreshments and light bites with a cozy theater experience.

There might be line changes from one reading to the next as the writer tests the writing against audience response. It also means the play has not yet been published as it has not reached its final form. We supply a director and dramaturgical support to assist the writer through this multi-draft process.
